Today for a mini writing assignment we tried something new! I hope all of you like it!
My favorite fieldwork was Craters of the Moon because everyone else was cold at night but I was the only one very warm at night. :) My second favorite thing about this school is that Math is way more easier than you think.
I would like to talk about…
Mindfulness is Peaceful, and Relaxing. We sit and listen to a voice on the computer, and he tells us to breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
It’s sometimes not peaceful in class because everyone won’t be quiet.
I have been having such a great time at school from field trips to math or science.
Its awesome in math we have been learning about multiplying and dividing decimals.
It has been sorta easy and hard because i don’t get it at first then as soon as we do it it is way easier. Only because we have great teachers to help us. I love doing science because we have learning what I have such fascination for gravity. Expedition is allways is awesome just in these past few months like faults, earthquakes, fault mirrors, and volcanoes. I’m a new kid in this school and i love it if it’s this great already the i can’t wait to see what we do in the future.
We had such a great time on our last fieldwork of this expedition. Alexis showed us some of the samples the 5/6th community found at the Wasatch Fault using their huge electron microscope. They told us these were some of the best samples they have ever seen! We also got to explore the Geology Department's huge collection of rocks, minerals, and fossils before we took a look at other rocks under microscopes. Lastly, we were given a demonstration of the chemical processes that take place when minerals form. It was so awesome! We had a great time and we all learned so much. Check out the photos at the bottom of this post!
We may be done with fieldwork but we are not done learning about earthquakes! We are working in pairs to create our own earthquake preparedness guide. Most pairs were able to finish their rough drafts today. There were some hiccups but we are using our group work norms and working together and compromising to create the highest quality work we can. Soon we will also be starting to draft our informative essays about earthquakes.
Also with November comes preparing to show our families the awesome work we have been doing at student led conferences. If you haven't already picked a time to come you can use this website to chose a time! If for some reason none of the available times work for you please feel free to email me and let me know when you can make it. I feel that student led conferences are very important as they let your student show you what they have been doing!
