Our next spelling unit is 17. We will be starting on this on Tuesday this week! If you want a head start you can find the list below! I also just signed up our class on Spellingcity.com. I am planning on handing out the welcome letters to the students on Tuesday with our new word list.

Last week we tried something new! We decided to do our spelling test on Monday. This seemed to work so well, as a matter of fact we had the highest scores we have had all year! We are going to try the same thing this week! We are on Unit 16.
We have finished our study of the novel Lyddie and the working conditions she encountered at a young age. Now, we are beginning our second case study where we will be studying child labor and working conditions in many different fields of work.
I thought I would share some pictures from our “Hosted Gallery Walk". During this experience students were able to become an “expert” about child labor and working conditions in specific areas such as; farming and food production, oyster shucking, coal mining, mill work, canneries, cotton picking, and newsies. Students were very surprised at the working conditions these young workers had to endure. After becoming “experts”, students then used their knowledge to teach others. |
