In Unit 5 we are exploring words using the Latin root words dict, scrib, and script and the Greek root gram and graph. These roots all have to do with writing, saying, describing, or recording words.

Today we had a great hike up the mountain to explore the Wasatch Fault in our own backyard. Dr. Ault from USU was awesome. We found some great specimens of fault rocks and evidence of the Bonneville shoreline. Last week we kept learning about earthquakes and how the area we live in has been shaped over time by tectonic activity. To help us prepare for for field work on Tuesday, October 17th, Dr Alexis Ault from USU came and talked to us and explained to us about the Wasatch fault and what a geochronologist does. She also told us about her lab at USU that we get to visit on October 31st. We also had our first scholar dollar store. So many creative things were sold and it was so much fun. Our word study words this week come from the Greek and Latin roots for circle, around and middle. This morning for our morning work we wrote the words in our planners. Remember to take a few minutes each day to study the words. If you aren't able to finish the word study packet in class that it is homework!
We had such a great time and learned so much on our overnight fieldwork to Craters of the Moon. Here are some highlights!
